Corrections policy
Last updated 7 October 2026.
We aim to get every fact right, and to fix it openly when we don't.
Reporting a mistake
Email contact@storiesofrecord.com with the subject "Correction", the story's link, what you think is wrong, and a source if you have one.
What we do
- We check every correction request against the sources.
- If the story is wrong, we publish a new version with the fix.
- The corrected fact carries a visible correction note saying what was wrong and what it now says.
- The earlier version stays readable in the story's history, so the mistake is not hidden.
Corrections and updates are different
An update adds new information because the story moved on. A correction fixes something that was wrong when we published it. Corrections are always labelled as corrections.
Safeguards
Corrections are never made as a routine update. If corrections rise above a set limit, routine updates stop until the team has looked into why. See How we publish.
